Birim Aksuyek

Birim was born in Bursa, Turkey in 1958 and spent most of his childhood surrounded by horses, and spent much of his childhood drawing the horses owned by his family. His love of horses led him to study veterinary medicine graduating in 1981, but still continued to paint whilst studying. He practised as a vet and in 1990 earned the title of PH Dr Veterinary Medicine. He worked for the Turkish Jockey Club for 17 years as a field Veterinary Surgeon. On the art side of his life he has held over 45 personal art exhibitions across the world, and his life as an equestrian vet has enabled him to analyse the life of horses, understand their psychology and social lives, which is reflected in the quality of his art.
