Framed“Bombs Away” is an exclusive Limited Edition Original artwork that is an amazing tribute to the war heroes of Bomber Command.
The perfectly scaled front nose section of the Arvo Lancaster Bomber has been hand made using five separate laser cut pieces of aluminium and held together with 100 hand pressed rivets. The base coat paint of the panel is then applied using the original Arvo black and green paint that they actually used to paint the Lancasters back in the 1940’s.
With the painting of the panel itself, there are 21 “Sortie Count” bombs on the right hand side. During the war time, these bombs when stencilled onto the great aircrafts themselves, represented the number of sorties the plane had completed. White bombs representing daytime raids and yellow representing night-time operations. With JJ’s artwork, the total of 21 bombs represents the edition size of the original hand painted panels (each panel is unique). The number of these bombs that are painted in white is the actual edition number of the artwork (e.g. 3 white bombs is edition no.3 out of 21). The authentic flag background is also an artistic creation by JJ that has been weathered and bullet ridden and printed on canvas. The entire finished piece is then float framed in a memorabilia gallery box frame with a thin black glass mount and UV protective glass.
